The Secret to a Balanced Kitchen: Precise Alignment of Wall Cabinets

by The DivinaCocina Team

Wall cabinets are the backbone of any practical kitchen. Correct installation is not just about fixing them in place, but about geometry, balance, and anticipating wear.

Wall Preparation: The Foundation of Everything

The first step, often overlooked, is inspecting and preparing the wall. We look for wiring, pipes, and most importantly, wooden studs or metal profiles. Mounting directly into drywall without support is a costly mistake.

  • Use a reliable stud finder to mark the precise positions.
  • If the wall is uneven, use thin wooden shims to create a flat surface for the hanging system.
  • Check the wall's verticality with a long level. A significant deviation may require design adjustments.

The Rail System: Rigidity Without Compromise

Instead of individual screws, we recommend a continuous system of adjustable metal rails. This is fixed solidly to the studs, and the cabinets are hung and can be easily adjusted vertically and horizontally, even after installation.

Rhythm and Spacing Between Units

The distance between cabinets is not just aesthetic. Consistent spacing ensures doors open without hitting each other and provides a tidy appearance. We use templates and spacers to maintain the same rhythm along the entire length.

Practical Tip: Always start installation from a corner or a fixed element (e.g., a built-in refrigerator). Measure and mark the final countertop height first, then calculate downwards to determine the rail position.
